Fusion of Color Swatches and Review

Hi all! Again, it's been a while. I hope you are all doing well. Today I have a new to me brand called Fusion of Color to share with you. I was recently given the opportunity to try some products from their new Spring line. I chose 2 eyeshadows, a highlighter, a blush, a lip gloss and a matte lippy. Let's get to the swatches shall we?

These colors are absolutely gorgeous. The eyeshadows are pigmented, creamy and super blendable. They lasted all day over a primer and looked just as good after 8 hours of wear as when I applied them in the morning. The blush and highlighter had the same texture and were very buildable so you can easily control the intensity of color. The lipstick felt a bit dry while applying but once it was on it didn't make my lips feel dry at all; it actually felt fairly moisturizing and stayed on for a good 6 hours. The gloss is the only thing I haven't wear tested but I tried it on and it had the perfect consistency; not too much slip (I hate that) and not super sticky.

Sleek Sunset Palette

Today I have one of my Sleek i-Divine eyeshadow palettes to show you. I have always loved these palettes and have a small collection of them which I hope to keep adding to. Sleek is not available in stores in the US but it is readily available online; I usually order mine from Amazon since there are some sellers you can buy from that don't charge shipping. For the ones not available on Amazon I usually hit up one of my European Facebook friends to pick it up for me and send it my way.

My most recent purchase was from Amazon and I used a gift card that I earned by doing online surveys so technically I didn't have to put any money out for it. This is the Sunset palette.

My one complaint with these palettes is that they don't have the shade names printed on the actual palette; they are usually printed on the plastic insert that covers the shadows. This one didn't have any names on that either and I couldn't find shade names in the quick online search I did so I'm not sure if they actually have names. Regardless, it is a gorgeous palette. The left side especially is full of very Fall colors that I love and the colors on the right will go perfectly with them to create different looks. For the most part the shadows were soft and pigmented (especially the orange shade, it's gorgeous). Although a few required a bit more work than others it was not enough of a big deal for me not to want to use them.

I am definitely looking forward to playing with this palette and seeing what kinds of looks I can come up with. And keep and eye out for more Sleek i-Divine swatch posts; I plan on swatching all of my palettes. 

I've only tried the eyeshadows but the blushes look great also. Have you ever tried Sleek products? What do you think of them? What is your favorite?

Chinovi Cosmetics The Tasting Menu Collection

Hi guys! Today I have an amazing collection from one of my favorite indie companies; Chinovi Cosmetics. I don't know why it has taken me so long to write a post about them but it has. I had been wanting this collection for ages but just couldn't spend the money on it. Then my friend Sam from the Kiss My Sparkle blog (who was the co-creator of the collection) sent it to me in a package. I was so excited to try these colors because they looked so gorgeous in pics I had seen. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The formula is amazingly soft, blendable and pigmented. And the colors are amazing! My camera couldn't pick up all of the sparkle and color shift but believe me they look amazeballs in the sun. You could do so many different kinds of looks with these and I intend to do just that really soon.

Colour Pop Swatches

Hi! So, unless you've been totally absent from the makeup world recently you've more than likely heard of Colour Pop by now. I was finally able to place an order to see what the hype was about and color me impressed!

First off, I love the packaging; it's simple, graphic and the inside has a cool pop of color. (Ha! Pop of color, Colour Pop... get it?) Anyway... onto the swatches. First up are the eyeshadows.

L-R: I Heart This, 3, Partridge, Hammered, Bae

This was one swipe of each color on bare skin. The color shift on these is amazing and the texture is so cool. It's a semi-moist consistency that feels really bouncy to the touch. Then it dries down to a powder that stays on like nobodies business! I tried to wipe these off with a dry paper towel and they didn't go anywhere; even after soap and water I could see the stain of the color. When I actually wore them I used primer I didn't have any staining though. 

And now on to the lippies...

The formula on all of the lippies was great! They all feel comfortable and wear really well. Bonus: they smell like cupcakes!

Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadows

Recently Sugarpill released some new loose eyeshadows. I had seen a few previews online and they looked super pretty but there is now way I could justify spending the money on any of them; I have so much makeup that I just don't go through it and the jars of loose eyeshadow are huge! So I was really excited when my friend Sam from the Kiss My Sparkle blog started a decant group for the shadows in a Facebook group that I am in. (And if you haven't checked out her blog you totally should here; she does beautiful swatches and comes up with some amazing looks). So I was able to get decants of 6 of the new shadows. All of them are swatched over UD Primer Potion and photographed under an Ott light. It was actually raining here today (which is a miracle) so there was no sunlight.

These colors are amazing! They are so sparkly and have such pretty color shifts. I can't wait to see them in sunlight; I bet they look amazing.

I took a picture of my decant for size to show just how huge these jars actually are. This jar is 1/8 of a full jar and it is definitely more than enough for me. And for about the price of a full jar I was able to get 6 colors.

Geek Chic Cosmetics Go Boldly Collection

My hubby and I have been on a major Star Trek kick lately. We've been watching the TV shows Voyager and The Next Generation as well as random movies here and there. So I had to bust out my Geek Chic Cosmetics Go Boldly collection which is based on Star Trek.

I don't know why I've never posted about Geek Chic before; it is one of my absolute favorite indie brands. The collections are nerdtastic, the colors are amazing and the owner is an absolute sweetheart. So without further ado... the Go Boldly Collection.

I love that the artwork looks like the control panels on the starships. So cool!

The colors all have such great shimmer and shift to them and are just so damn pretty. Once you turn the jars over you come to one of my favorite things about the packaging... Tribbles!!

I remember watching the Tribble episode as a kid and I've loved them ever since so I was super excited when I saw this awesome little detail.

Unfortunately, the Go Boldly collection isn't available anymore but there are plenty of other amazing goodies on the website here. Definitely check out this amazing company if you haven't already.

Once Upon A Time From Darling Girl Cosmetics

Hi again! So yesterday I came home to a package from Darling Girl Cosmetics. At first I thought it was the small birthday order that I recently placed but as I was opening it I realized that it was a bit too soon for that to be coming in the mail. Then I read the postcard that came with it and realized that it was a care package from the Susan (the creator of Darling Girl Cosmetics). She knows that I have been down a lot lately and sent me a package to help cheer me up. She is such a sweetheart and I love her to death; she's like my sister from another mister and we share an (un)healthy obsession with Duran Duran. We've never met in person but I hope someday to get the opportunity so I can give her a giant hug

There were 3 eyeshadows in the package that I quickly realized weren't from any collection that is out now; they are from an upcoming Once Upon A Time collection and haven't been released yet! Of course I quickly ran to Facebook to message Susan and thank her from the bottom of my heart. She told me that she will be doing mini collections for Once Upon A Time. The 3 shadows I have will be joined by a gloss and she will also be doing a villains collection to go along with it. On to the swatches...

These colors are amazing! I have yet to watch Once Upon A Time (it is in my Netflix queue) so these names don't mean much to me but that doesn't keep me from loving the colors. If I Only Had A Heart has a light greyed-taupe base that turns into a crazy golden shimmer at the right angle. Hot As Baelfire is a matte, purply taupe that is gorgeous. And Let's Hook Up is a blackened olive with crazy gold sparkle.

These shadows, as well as a gloss and the villains to go along with them, should be released some time in February so definitely keep an eye out for them. Darling Girl Cosmetics is one of my all-time favorite indie companies and you could not be supporting a nicer person when you buy there. Susan's colors are all crazy beautiful and complex and her collection ideas are awesome. I have a ton of her pretties so maybe I'll just start doing some swatch posts.

BFTE Cosmetics Pumpkin EVERYTHING!!

I was very excited to open up my mailbox yesterday and see my order from BFTE Cosmetics. A few weeks ago the owner Kim posted on Facebook that she was going to have a pumpkin-themed Fall collection and as soon as I saw the swatch pics I knew I had to have it. Fall is my absolute favorite season and I love that everything pumpkin is released everywhere. Appropriately, the collection is called Pumpkin EVERYTHING!! I also ordered the COTM (color of the month) and she threw in a few samples as well. This was my first BFTE order and I have to say that I really like the packaging. It is very sleek and simple and pretty.

In short, these colors are amazing! They are soft and blendable and the sparkle to all of them is just gorgeous. I also ordered the COTM shadow (Grape Leaves) and received a few samples as well.

Some BFTE Swatches

So, a few months ago my friend Kim (who writes the Libby's Pink Vanity blog) started hinting that she had something big in the works. A few weeks later she dropped the bombshell that she had bought BFTE Cosmetics! How awesome is that? She gets to play with makeup for a living now and I have to say that I'm a bit jealous. Anywho, when she found out that I had never tried the brand before she sent me some samples to play with...she's kinda awesome like that.

So, of course I had to swatch them and share with you all. They are all swatched over Urban Decay Primer Potion. In all pics:

I literally gasped when I saw these in the sunlight. The colors are very pretty indoors in regular light but they absolutely come alive in the sunlight! I couldn't quite catch the amazing sparkle in Dirty Deals but believe me, it's gorgeous. They have so much shimmer and sparkle. And they were a dream to apply; buttery, blendable, just the perfect consistency.

I LOVE these shadows! They applied like a dream and the colors are so pretty; especially in the sunlight. The shimmer and sparkle are gorgeous. And as pretty as they are over regular primer I bet they would be absolutely amazeballs over a sticky base (which I don't have yet).

More Eddie Funkhouser Pretties

Hi all! Today I have the last of my Eddie Funkhouser pretties to share with you.

The first is Hyperreal Pure Pigment in Catchlight.

The website describes the color as "metallic sun gold flash" and I would say that it is a spot-on description. 

You can see how it catches the light at different angles and reflects different hues. It's really pretty and I think it would look great as a highlighter color or on the inner corner of the eye.

Next up is Graffiti Liquid Liner in Haze which is described as "metallic luscious grape". 

Purple is one of my favorite colors and this shade is absolutely gorgeous! It's such a bright, saturated purple and the metallic sheen is so pretty.

Eddie Funkhouser Hyperreal Eye Color Palette

Hello all! Today I have another fabulous Eddie Funkhouser product to show you; it's the hyperreal eye color palette in the shade Girls On Film. Now, I have to be honest. I love the colors in this palette but I picked it just as much for the name as for the colors. See, I am a lifelong (well at least since early grade school) fan of Duran Duran so I couldn't pass up a palette with the same name of one of their best-known songs. My best friend and I used to sit in her room that was covered in Duran Duran posters from Tiger Beat and and Bop magazines daydreaming about which member of the band we wanted to marry someday. When we were in our 20's the band briefly reunited and all 5 original members were on tour and we were lucky enough to see them at the fairly small Santa Barbara Bowl. I tell you we jumped up and down and squealed like little girls when they came onstage. It was definitely one of my most memorable concerts and I will never forget it. Luckily this palette is pretty darn awesome too.

These are the color descriptions from the website: Screen Test -"pewter with silver shimmer", Video Star - "bright purple", Freeze Frame - "matte marine blue", Snap Shot - "pearlescent cornflower blue".

I swatched these over Urban Decay Primer Potion and they are so pretty! Screen Test and Snap Shot are both shimmery. Freeze Frame is a gorgeous blue matte. And Video Star has a duochrome finish that actually shows up! I was able to slightly catch it in the picture above but it is much prettier in person. I haven't used these in a look yet, and even when I do I can't take eye look pictures to save my life so you probably won't see it, but I'm sure it's going to be gorgeous when I do. I love that there are different finishes in this palette. The pigmentation is really good and they are not too soft and not too hard. You can buy this palette for $14.99 here which is a great deal for 4 high quality eye shadows. I'm drooling over the other palettes also and hopefully I can pick them all up eventually.

My Halloween Look

So, I said I was going to post about my Halloween look and here it is! Shocker I know... 2 posts within a few days. But anyway, I don't know how or when purple started being one of the main Halloween colors but I can't say I'm sad about it. Purple is and always has been one of my favorite colors. It doesn't seem like it would look good when paired with orange but somehow it just works.

Once again I used my Sleek Acid eyeshadow palette for the orange. For the purple I busted out a Sephora palette that I got for Christmas a few years ago. Then I got out the liquid eyeliner and went to town. Here are the results:

Now, I am by no means an artist; which is pretty obvious. But this is the good version! For the first attempt I tried stretching the skin out a bit to have a smoother surface (because I AM almost 40 years old and getting some of that wrinkly, crepe-y skin on my eyelids). It was NOT pretty! It was all distorted and wonky and looked really bad. I should have gotten a picture actually; would have been kinda funny. Oh well.

So then I slapped on some black lipgloss (which is way out of my usual comfort zone...but it was Halloween so why not?).

The earrings I have on were my creations also. I did a black background with orange glitter from one of those no-name brands in the cute jack-o-lantern shaped bottles that come out every year. I wore these almost every day during the month of October; I love how they turned out!

I had fun creating and wearing this look. I'm really enjoying playing around with color and things that I normally wouldn't wear. After all, it's only makeup and if I don't like it I can wash it off! 

I've got a really cool nail polish to show you on Tuesday. It is a red/white/blue glitter so it's perfect for election day. See you then!

Neon Candy Corn Eyes

Hi all! Happy Halloween! Anybody do anything fun? Nothing too exciting here. I have Wednesdays off so I slept in super late, we walked on over to Starbucks for our caffeine fix, got some super nommy burritos for dinner, I baked some pumpkin blondie bars and now hubs and I are going to settle in and watch the finale of Face Off and maybe a horror movie or two. Pretty much the perfect day actually.

So,  I had been toying with the idea of doing a candy corn look with eyeshadow to go along with the candy corn nails I did last week. I was going to do the "normal" yellow and orange but then realized it might look really cool using neons! I had recently gotten the Sleek Acid palette but hadn't gotten around to playing with it yet. I had been eyeing this palette for ages but as neon pigments aren't approved for use on the eyes here in the states it isn't as easy as jumping online and ordering it. Luckily my friend Sarah who lives in Ireland was kind enough to order it for me and send it my way. Here's a pic of it in all of its neon-y goodness. Isn't it amazing?

These colors are definitely out of my comfort zone but I'm really trying to step out of my usual box these days and try new things. Here's the finished product.

          -Stila Major Lash mascara 

I used a white eye shadow base by Tick:Tock Cosmetics (infinity eye shadow base in Milky Way) and that stuff is amazing! The white allowed the colors to really pop and the shadows stayed put forever (or at least until I scrubbed them off that night)! I would highly recommend that you try it if you are looking for an amazing eyeshadow base.

I was pretty pleased with how this turned out. I did a cute Halloween look today too that I'll post about soon. Hope everyone had a great day!
